Netflix Socks & Netflix Switch - Cannes Lion Innovation Shortlist - June 2016
We listened to users’ Netflix ideas and’ hilarious “first-world” problems.
Based on those consumer insights, we created “The Switch”: a gadget that could dim the lights, silence incoming calls, order takeout, and turn on Netflix. Then, we released DIY instructions so users could make their own (and some did).
The Switch became popular—transcending tech press to become a mainstream topic of conversation.
In 10 days.
- The Switch became a viral hit.
- Embraced by tech outlets like: CNET.com, Engadget.com, and TheDailyDot.com, as well as traditional and lifestyle press like USAToday.com, NYDailyNews.com, TIME.com, and Refinery29.com.
- Created deep and meaningful conversations with users on social about The Switch, Netflix, and the Maker Movement.
